  • Common Video Poker Games found in Casinos

    Video Poker became popular in the 1970’s and has since evolved from the normal classic 5 card draw version to be offered in a number of different games with many different rules or variations.

    Jacks or Better is the most common version of Video Poker that is available in the casinos. The game is called Jacks or Better because players receive a payout from their stake if they have a pair of jacks or anything better in their hand. The better a hand a player makes, the more they will get paid out on their stake – with a Royal Flush being the best hand a player can make. The theoretical return on Jacks or Better if played perfectly is around 99.5%, which gives the house a 0.05% edge.

    Another type of game offered in the Video Poker world is All American. A player will be paid on their stake if they make a pair of jacks or better. However, in this version of the game, a player will have a high payout for straights, flushes and straight flushes but a lower payout on full houses or two pairs meaning the perfect strategy for this game differs a little from Jacks or Better.

    Deuces Wild is another variety of Video Poker with slightly different rules than the classic Video Poker games. According to the latest online casino reviews, in Deuces Wild, players will notice that twos becomes wild cards. A wild card is a card that can be substituted for any other card in the deck in order to improve a players Video Poker hand. In deuces wild, the best hand a player can make s a Royal Flush, which consist of the proper cards or can be substituted with twos, as they are wild. In the Deuces Wild gaming format, a player can make a return of an impressive 100.8% on average, which is a positive return if the house decides not to increase its edge. This is only for the full pay version of the game and not the low pay version, as many other casinos will have in their rooms.

    Bonus Poker is another type of Video Poker game. Bonus poker is based on the popular Jacks or Better form of Video Poker however players will receive different payout percentages, which work out to be slightly lower. This being said, the game does offer a much higher payout if a player makes four of a kind in their hand. If playing a full pay version of this variation of the many Video Poker games players are able to get a payout of 99.2% of their original stake on average.

  • PKR Poker – The 3D Experience

    Most of us have played plenty of online poker in the past, but I know for a fact that not many people have tried playing inside the PKR Poker room. PKR Poker stands out from most other poker rooms for one simple reason and that is they have the most revolutionary software in the game. They aren’t apart of any other poker network so you won’t be able to see this software being offered anywhere else. The software allows poker players to play online poker in 3D environments which makes it a lot more entertaining for casual players.

    I must quickly admit that there are some negatives about playing with PKR Poker. The traffic in the poker room isn’t that large yet because the word hasn’t gotten out to casual poker players. This means that the tournaments offered by PKR Poker are much smaller then in other poker rooms such as Full Tilt and PokerStars. The other problem I have with the PKR Poker room is that it takes a lot longer to play poker.

    If you’re a casual poker player then you’re most likely not going to mind that the gameplay is fairly slow, but if you’re a grinder on PokerStars then you’re most likely not going to like PKR Poker. The reason the game is so slow is because most players are busy playing with the features in the poker room instead of focusing on poker. The good thing about the players messing around with the poker room’s features is that you’ll be able to win some easy money from players that aren’t paying attention.

    The competition at PKR Poker is generally fairly weak and that’s because most of the players are casual players looking to have a good time. I’ve found that the players at PKR Poker are a lot more communicative and this can be fun if you’re just looking to relax with some people and have some fun. For those of you that are simply interested in playing poker and making money, you’ll want to check out some of our other poker rooms.

    The features offered at PKR Poker are similar to ClubWPT – they are endless and include the ability to play in multiple 3D environments, sending emotes out to the players on your table and dressing up your own character to play with. You may have seen some nice looking avatars in other poker rooms, but at PKR Poker you have thousands of clothing and accessory options to dress your own 3D character up with. There are hundreds of emotions that you can send to other players including some that are pretty funny such as posting a donkey on the screen of other players. You can also purchase tricks from the PKR Poker store which give your character the ability to perform tricks with your chips at the poker table that everyone can see.
    If you have never tried playing PKR Poker yet then you’re missing out on tons of fun. They have tons of promotions to keep all of their players happy and they have the best software features in the game. Even if you’re a grinder you might enjoy taking a break from the daily hustle and play a few fun games of poker at PKR.

  • Tips for Playing Blackjack

    Blackjack is one of the easier card games to play in the casino, but although it’s an easy game to play there is still a lot to learn if you want to do well. Blackjack is one of the casino games that actually involve strategy and without knowing the basics you’re not going to stand a chance. Even once you learn basic blackjack strategy it doesn’t guarantee you’re going to win either since you’re still going to need the cards to hit at the right time.

    Online Blackjack has one of the lowest house edges out of all the game that are played in the casino. You can lower the house edge as well when playing blackjack by counting cards. You won’t be able to count cards while playing online, but when you play at any land based casino you should try counting cards. There are a few card counting strategies out there that you can learn and they all work fine. Some of them work more effectively then others, but then they also become more difficult to execute while playing.

    Don’t forget that while you’re counting cards you’re still trying to play your hand, socialize and not look like you’re doing anything wrong. Multi-tasking like this isn’t that easy so you’re going to want to use the easiest card counting system out there initially until you master it. If you have never counted cards before it will definitely increase you winning percentage at the table, just make sure you don’t get caught. It’s not illegal to count cards, but the casinos are on private property and therefore they can kick you out if they’d like.

    I often see players at the blackjack tables lose control of their emotions. Whether they lose control because of the way they’re playing or because of the way someone else is playing, it shouldn’t happen. The second you lose your cool at the blackjack tables is the second that you should walk away for a break. Even I’ve had times when I get upset at the plays certain players make at the tables, but over the long-run it will even out. You’ll have bad players make moves where you lose the hand and then they’ll make moves that help you win the hand.

    Make sure you utilize the double down bet when playing blackjack as much as you can. If you’re counting cards it’ll be easier to gauge when to double down against the dealer, but for the most part double down anytime you have 10/11 as long as the dealer doesn’t have an ace. Never buy insurance from the dealer when you play blackjack either because it’s a waste of money over the long-run and only increases the house edge. Some casinos will allow you to play blackjack with the ability to surrender your hand and lose half of your bet. This bet can add value to your strategy, but only when used correctly. Don’t surrender every time the dealer is showing a 10+ or else you’re going to go broke.

  • Psychological Games in Poker – Know Your Opponents

    Half the battle in poker is won if you know your opponents well. Every single player at the table will have his or her own unique personality, decision making style and strategy. However, essentially there are a few basic types of characters where the players would usually fit in. Knowing these basic profiles of opponents can immensely help you to identify the opponent so that you can design your own strategy against them well. Given below are the four basic category of opponents which can be found at most tables:

    Tight Passive Players

    This type of Full Tilt Poker players would have a very conservative approach towards the game. They would only play a very few number of hands and only those hands which are of a very high quality. They would avoid making a move unless they are very confident of winning the hand. Their biggest weakness is that they are easily readable. Such players do not bluff generally and only bet small amounts even on good hands. Generally, beginners usually have this type of a playing style since they are playing quite safe.

    It is best to not bet against such players if you do not have a very strong hand since they would only be betting if they have a monster hand.

    Loose Passive Players

    These players would just call all the bets of the other players without thinking about the hands they have. These players generally are easy to beat and they lose a lot of money since they play a very weak game.

    Tight Aggressive Players

    These players are really aggressive players. They would play a lot of hands and would bet and raise quite often. Though these players would still choose their hands quite wisely, they would still go on raising really large amounts just to intimidate the other players at the table. They would also steal a lot of pots and would make it very difficult for other players to win at the game. Such players bluff too often. It is best to not get into a sticky situation with such players since it would just be a trap.

    Loose Aggressive Players

    These absolute poker cheats would play a lot of hands and would constantly keep raising pre flop and post flop. Also, these players generally end up losing their money quickly since they are not very careful with their hand selection. However, these players sometimes do manage to win a lot of pots just because they keep betting on every hand.

    These were some of the main type of players which can be found on every poker table. It is very important to know your opponents very well and accordingly adjust your own play to match them. Pay attention to the type of hands they play and their behavior at the table to understand what category to fall in. Also, you should be able to use a combination of all of the above style whenever needed in order to keep your opponents confused all the time.

  • Know When to Raise and When to Call with Your Starting Hands in Texas Hold’Em Poker

    Poker has taken over the world and enthralled players from all over the world ever since it had been first introduced. Today, the game has become an international sensation. Every single casino in the world offers at least some type of poker variation. With the advancement of the online casinos, today there are dozens of different poker variations which are available to players with just a click of the mouse.

    Starting Hands

    The first ever thing that players must learn when they play Texas Hold’Em poker is the strategy for their starting hands. It is important to know which hands are good and which ones are not for success at the game. For pre-flop, the players must be very careful while deciding when to fold their hands without wasting any money and when to hit for the big jackpot and make a big bold bet. However, the exact answer would depend on the number of people that are playing in the game and the type of poker variation which is being played at the table. There is a general guide which can be followed though for every type of poker game. It is wise to set a fixed limit of the bet and stick to it accordingly throughout the game.

    When to Raise Pre-flop

    There are certain starting hands which have a very strong chance of winning at Poker Star and when such hands do appear, the player must go all out and be bold with them. Raise on such hands in order to make the most out of it. Given below is the list of starting hands where you must raise pre-flop:

    * AA
    * KK
    * QQ
    * AK
    * JJ
    * AQ
    * TT

    All of the hands listed above are strong enough hands which can be raised.

    When to Call Pre-flop

    There is another set of starting hands which are strong but are not strong enough to raise on. When these hands appear, the best thing to do is to just call and see later on in the game about what needs to be done. Given below is the list of hands where the player must call:

    * AJ
    * KQ
    * KJ
    * QJ
    * JT
    * T9 (Suited)
    * 99
    * 88
    * 77
    * AJ(suited)

    For all of the above listed hands, the player must call. However, it is wise to just call once or twice with these hands. Never call three times or more than that on these starting hands since they are not strong enough.

    For the rest of the hands, the best thing to do is to just fold and not go ahead with them since there are not many chances of them winning anyways. Rather than calling and spending money on these hands the wisest thing to do is just fold.

    For any player to be a winner in online poker in the long run, the first and the most important thing is to perfect the starting hands strategy since it is the basis of the game.

  • Rush Poker Strategy

    If you haven’t heard about Rush Poker by now which is the new featured game at Full Tilt Poker then you must be living under a rock. The new game that is being offered by Full Tilt Poker only is going to revolutionize how online poker is played in the future. I’m not going to talk much about what the game is about so I’d recommend that you read a guide on Rush Poker before moving onto this Rush Poker strategy guide.

    Rush Poker is a new poker game where you get to play poker as fast as you’d like. Every time you fold your hand you’ll be teleported to a new table where you’ll start a new hand immediately. Many people of all skill levels have been reviewing the game the past couple months and based on the reviews you’ll be able to play anywhere from 100-300 hands every hour of poker that you play.

    With Rush Poker being such a fast paced game you need to be extremely focused in order to play. Since you can just fold your hand and start a new hand immediately, you should also tighten up your game. If you’re generally a tight player then you could play even tighter in Rush Poker. You should only play your high pocket pairs and hands such as A/K and A/Q. The beauty about sitting and waiting for these hands is that it isn’t going to cost you much to wait except for some blinds and you could potentially win a nice payoff.

    There are plenty of fish that are playing the smaller limit Rush Poker games right now and there is going to be thousands and thousands more as more people hear about the game. If you play smart poker and wait for your big hands only then you can most likely double up a couple times every session. There are going to be those times when you go all-in with a monster hand and lose, but this should only happen a small percentage of the time.

    The problem with sitting on a regular poker table is that your opponents would quickly pick-up on the fact you don’t play any hands except the big hands. When you play Rush Poker you’re constantly changing poker tables and you’re always playing against new opponents. The only way that someone will be able to tell if you’re really tight is if they have taken notes of you before which leads me to my next point.

    One of the ways that you can gain an advantage over your opponents in FullTiltPoker.com Rush Poker is by keeping notes of your opponents as you play them. It can be difficult to try and keep notes while you’re playing poker at such a fast pace, but it will really help you out in the long run. If you keep notes of other players you’ll be notified about the note whenever you’re on their table again which will help you remember exactly how the other player plays. Rush Poker is a great new game which allows anyone that wants too the ability to play hundreds of hands of poker per hour. There is some luck involved in Rush Poker since most big pots are all-in hands preflop, but as long as you’re going heads-up with the best hand 80-90% of the time you’ll do just fine.

    Do you know what kind of a poker player you are? Did you even know that there were different types of poker players? Well I certainly didn’t when I first got into the swing of poker online. Patti Smith Land helped me to find out what kind of poker players there were in this competitive game as well as hints and tips on how to understand my opponents and the way that they worked. At the beginning of your poker journey, you may find yourself being a “Loose Aggressive Player” as Patti describes it. These are people that play a lot of hands in their game rather than picking a few quality ones and also lose the majority of their money fairly early on. This was certainly the category that I would have fallen into right at the beginning!

    As well as these loose aggressive players, Patti Smith Land also informed me of Tight Aggressive Players, Loose Passive Players and Tight Passive Players and also the ways in which you can better understand the game playing they choose and how to spot them very early on. With poker very much being a tactical game, it makes sense to understand and watch the opponent from early on whilst still maintaining your “Poker Face” as Lady GaGa would say!

    Blackjack seems to be a favorite in Patti Smith Land with many helpful hints and tips to help you on your way. After all, once you have understood the players, next you must try to understand the game.
