Blackjack is one of the easier card games to play in the casino, but although it’s an easy game to play there is still a lot to learn if you want to do well. Blackjack is one of the casino games that actually involve strategy and without knowing the basics you’re not going to stand a chance. Even once you learn basic blackjack strategy it doesn’t guarantee you’re going to win either since you’re still going to need the cards to hit at the right time.
Online Blackjack has one of the lowest house edges out of all the game that are played in the casino. You can lower the house edge as well when playing blackjack by counting cards. You won’t be able to count cards while playing online, but when you play at any land based casino you should try counting cards. There are a few card counting strategies out there that you can learn and they all work fine. Some of them work more effectively then others, but then they also become more difficult to execute while playing.
Don’t forget that while you’re counting cards you’re still trying to play your hand, socialize and not look like you’re doing anything wrong. Multi-tasking like this isn’t that easy so you’re going to want to use the easiest card counting system out there initially until you master it. If you have never counted cards before it will definitely increase you winning percentage at the table, just make sure you don’t get caught. It’s not illegal to count cards, but the casinos are on private property and therefore they can kick you out if they’d like.
I often see players at the blackjack tables lose control of their emotions. Whether they lose control because of the way they’re playing or because of the way someone else is playing, it shouldn’t happen. The second you lose your cool at the blackjack tables is the second that you should walk away for a break. Even I’ve had times when I get upset at the plays certain players make at the tables, but over the long-run it will even out. You’ll have bad players make moves where you lose the hand and then they’ll make moves that help you win the hand.
Make sure you utilize the double down bet when playing blackjack as much as you can. If you’re counting cards it’ll be easier to gauge when to double down against the dealer, but for the most part double down anytime you have 10/11 as long as the dealer doesn’t have an ace. Never buy insurance from the dealer when you play blackjack either because it’s a waste of money over the long-run and only increases the house edge. Some casinos will allow you to play blackjack with the ability to surrender your hand and lose half of your bet. This bet can add value to your strategy, but only when used correctly. Don’t surrender every time the dealer is showing a 10+ or else you’re going to go broke.
