Land ประกอบไปด้วยแผ่น CD จำนวน 2 แผ่น เป็นอัลบั้มแบบ Compilation album ซึ่งได้รวบรวมเอาเพลงจากบุคคลหรือกลุ่มๆหนึ่งเข้าไว้ด้วยกัน โดยในที่นี้คือ เพลงของ Patti Smith มันถูกเผยแพร่เมื่อวันที่ 19 มีนาคม ค.ส. 2002 ภายใต้สังกัด Arista Records , Land ประกอบด้วยชุดของการบันทึกจากอัลบั้มก่อนหน้าจำนวน 8 อัลบั้มแรกของเธอ ในแผ่นดิสก์ชุดแรกที่มีชื่อว่า B-sides และ unreleased songs ในแผ่นที่ 2 อัลบั้มนี้ถูกจัดอยู่ในอันดับ 8 ของ Mojo’s ภายใต้หัวข้อ Best Box Sets & Compilations แห่งปี 2002 ซึ่งมันถูกอุทิศให้แด่ความทรงจำที่มีต่อ Richard Soh ผู้ซึ่งเป็น นักเปียโน , นักแต่งเพลงและนักเรียบเรียง เขาเป็นที่รู้จักกันดีที่สุดสำหรับการทำงานของเขากับ Patti smith นอกจากนี้เขายังเล่นกับ Iggy Pop, Nina Hagen และ Elliott Murphy อีกด้วยโดยเขาเสียชีวิตเมื่อวันที่ 3 มิถุนายน 1990 ด้วยอาการหัวใจวาย ในขณะที่กำลังพักผ่อนหย่อนใจใน Cherry Grove ณ New York
